Garamba National Park, Africa Parks
23 Feb – 05 Apr 2017
Simon and Tom delivered intermediate and Advanced tracking courses to this ‘Wild-West’ corner of Africa. Heavily armed poaching and religious extremist gangs regularly enter the park and frequently target the rangers as well as the animals, so the standard of training needs to be extremely high – and it is.
We had to translate all of the lessons into both French, and the local language, ‘Lingala’. But the rangers here were superb and learned quickly and with enthusiasm. They were called away for operations during the courses and were very successful in following the tracks of poachers.
